It takes little effort to find 80% of the mechanics that are being used.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Then start designing. After you have some basic ideas, look for that exact mechanic in a number of games. If you don't see it, keep going.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Ask some playtesters to try it out.
